The City of De Soto started in the spring of 1857, the name was derived from an Indian by the name of De Soto.
The city has a total area of 11.3 square miles and the development is becoming evident. The City of De Soto has experienced a plethora of growth and placed 6th in the State of Kansas for percentage increase in population over the decades.
The De Soto area’s are well-tranformed economy aids to ensure persistent growth and stability with it’s employemnt base of roughly 3,900.
